PROPOSALS TABLED (Please contact Bob Darling [x2923] if you have any questions).

Alterations to programs:

Alteration to Major in Professional Writing [PWR]

1) proposal lacks signature from the English Department Chair.

2) the committee requests that comment be obtained from the Chair of the Philosophy Department as PHI 203, 240, or 382 are being deleted from the major.

3) the committee expressed some concern over dropping an internship from a professional program of study.

4) section B of the proposed alteration requires 12 hours at the 400 level. Yet, other than PWR 497 (required in section A), there are only 4 remaining courses at the 400 level, including the internship (PWR 495) that the department wishes to eliminate. Under the current list of available 400 level courses (p. 145 of the 2006-2007 catalog), it appears that a student must take at least 3 credit hours of internship anyway just to satisfy the 400-level requirement.
